Google Search Console Generative AI Performance Report Appears Live for All Properties
Google Search Console's generative AI performance report, which tracks how websites appear in AI Overviews and AI Mode, appears to have rolled out to all properties as of August 11, 2026. Google has not yet officially announced the full rollout, but multiple SEO professionals have confirmed the report is now visible across their accounts after weeks of limited access.
The report first launched on June 3, 2026, when Google announced it would initially be available to a subset of websites for testing. By late June, access had expanded to additional regions beyond the initial rollout. Now, after checking approximately 25 Search Console profiles, the report is universally available, though Google's own help documentation still carries a note stating it is "rolling out to a subset of website owners, allowing for thorough testing before rolling it further."
The details
The generative AI performance report gives website owners visibility into how their content performs within Google's AI-powered search features. According to a June 3 post on the Google Search Central Blog by Hillel Maoz, Search Ecosystem Engineering Manager, and Moshe Samet, Product Manager Lead for Search Console, the report was designed to provide "dedicated views of your impressions within generative AI features on Search, such as AI Overviews and AI Mode, as well as generative AI features in Discover."
The report tracks impressions across two key Google Search features: AI Overviews, which generate summarized answers at the top of search results, and AI Mode, Google's conversational search interface. It does not include data from Search Labs experiments, which Google considers still in active development. A separate report covers generative AI features in Google Discover.
Website owners can view data broken down by several dimensions. The Pages dimension shows which URLs appeared in generative AI features, with data assigned to canonical URLs after any redirects. The Countries dimension provides geographic distribution of impressions. The Devices dimension breaks down impressions by desktop, tablet, or mobile. The Dates dimension allows monitoring over time with hourly, daily, weekly, and monthly granularity.
The report does not include click data or query-level data. Website owners can see which pages received impressions in AI features, but not which specific search queries triggered those appearances or how many users clicked through to their site. In their announcement post, Maoz and Samet wrote that Google is "continuing to work with website owners to understand what insights and data would be most helpful to inform their strategies, such as adding additional metrics over time." This language suggests click and query data could arrive in future updates.
The report appears as an expandable tab under the main performance report in Search Console. Google's documentation notes that it will not display if a site "hasn't received enough impressions in generative AI features on Google Search." This threshold requirement may explain why some users report not seeing it despite the broader rollout.
SEO professional Vijay Chauhan, who first flagged the expanded rollout on X (formerly Twitter) in June, confirmed on August 11 that the report now appears across multiple profiles. In his June 23 post, Chauhan wrote that Google was "gradually rolling out the AI Overview performance report ('Generative AI') in GSC to more users." Other SEO professionals, including Suganthan Mohanadasan and Shameem Adhikarath, also reported seeing the report for non-UK properties around the same time.
Data from the report can be exported, and Google notes that values shown as unavailable in the interface will appear as zeros in downloaded data. The report follows the same data limitations as the standard Search performance report, including a 1,000-row limit in the table view.
Why this matters for SEO and AI visibility
The full rollout of this report gives SEO and GEO teams their first dedicated first-party data source for tracking AI search visibility. Since AI Overviews launched, website owners have had limited ability to isolate AI-specific impressions from the standard Search Console performance report, which aggregates all search types together.
With dedicated impression data for AI Overviews and AI Mode, teams can now track which pages surface in AI-generated answers and how that visibility trends over time. The country and device breakdowns allow for targeted analysis of where AI search features generate the most exposure. The absence of click and query data remains a real limitation. Without knowing which queries trigger AI appearances or whether users actually click through, teams cannot fully measure the traffic impact of AI search features. The data functions as a visibility metric rather than a traffic metric, and SEO teams will need to complement it with third-party tools and analytics to build a complete picture.
What to watch next
Google's documentation states it "expect[s] to update this list over time as we develop Google Search," suggesting additional generative AI features may be added to the report beyond AI Overviews and AI Mode.
Whether Google officially announces the full rollout and updates the help documentation to remove the "subset" language will signal that the feature has moved from testing to permanent status. The addition of click data or query-level data would substantially increase the report's value, and Google's feedback solicitation suggests this is under consideration. How impression data correlates with actual referral traffic from AI search features will also be critical to understand, as the gap between visibility and clicks in AI-generated answers may differ significantly from traditional search results.
