Google Search Console's Generative AI Performance Report Now Available to All Properties
Google's Search Console generative AI performance report appears to have rolled out to all website properties as of August 11, 2026, giving SEO teams their first native tool for tracking visibility within AI Overviews and AI Mode. Google has not yet officially announced the full rollout, but independent verification across multiple Search Console accounts confirms the report is now widely accessible.
The details
SEO professional Vijay Chauhan first flagged the broader rollout on X on August 11, posting that the generative AI performance report was suddenly visible across all of his Search Console properties. "Seems like Google is rolling out the new Generative AI feature report in GSC," Chauhan wrote. "I'm now seeing the report available across all of my properties." Subsequent checks across additional accounts confirmed the report's widespread availability.
Google originally launched the generative AI performance report on June 3, 2026, in a blog post authored by Hillel Maoz, Search Ecosystem Engineering Manager, and Moshe Samet, Product Manager Lead for Search Console. At launch, the company restricted the report to a subset of websites, describing it as a testing phase to gather feedback before wider release. The report provides dedicated views of impression data from generative AI features on Google Search, specifically AI Overviews and AI Mode, as well as generative AI features in Google Discover.
The report appears as an expandable tab within the main performance report in Search Console. According to Google's help documentation, it surfaces five dimensions of data:
- Impressions: How often URLs from a site appeared in generative AI features in Search and Discover
- Pages: Which specific URLs appeared within AI features
- Countries: Geographic breakdown of AI feature visibility
- Devices: Desktop, tablet, or mobile usage when users encountered the site in AI features (available for Search results)
- Dates: Performance tracking with hourly, daily, weekly, and monthly granularity
Notably, the report does not include click data or query-level data. Google's help documentation does not indicate whether these metrics will be added in future updates, though the original blog post noted that the team is "continuing to work with website owners to understand what insights and data would be most helpful to inform their strategies, such as adding additional metrics over time."
The report also excludes data from Search Labs experiments, which Google describes as still in active development. Only production AI features, AI Overviews and AI Mode, contribute to the impression counts.
Google's help documentation still carries a note stating the report is rolling out to a subset of website owners, suggesting the official documentation has not yet been updated to reflect the apparent full rollout. There may also be a minimum impression threshold: sites that have not received enough impressions in generative AI features may not see the report populate with data, even if the tab itself is now visible.
Why this matters for SEO and AI visibility
This is the first time Google has provided site owners with dedicated, native metrics for tracking how their content performs in AI-powered search features. Previously, SEO teams had to rely on third-party tools and manual SERP checks to estimate their presence in AI Overviews and AI Mode. The data now available in Search Console, even limited to impressions, gives teams a baseline for measuring AI search visibility over time and comparing it against traditional search performance.
The absence of click and query data, however, constrains how actionable the report currently is. Without knowing which queries trigger AI feature appearances or how often users actually click through from AI-generated results, SEO teams can track visibility trends but cannot yet tie AI presence to traffic outcomes. The country and device breakdowns do offer practical value. Teams can identify geographic markets and device contexts where their AI visibility is strongest or weakest.
What to watch next
Google has not made an official announcement about the full rollout, so a formal blog post or help documentation update may follow. SEO teams should check their Search Console properties now to confirm the report is visible and begin baseline tracking. Watch for whether Google adds click or query data in subsequent updates, as that would significantly increase the report's strategic value. The company's openness to feedback, mentioned in the original announcement, suggests the report's capabilities may expand based on user input.
