Google Search Console Generative AI Performance Report Appears Fully Rolled Out

Google's Search Console generative AI performance report, which tracks how websites appear in AI Overviews and AI Mode, has reached what looks like full rollout as of August 11, 2026. Multiple site owners and SEO professionals confirmed seeing the report across all their verified properties, roughly two months after Google first introduced the feature to a limited set of UK publishers.

The details

SEO professional Vijay Chauhan reported on X on August 11 that the generative AI performance report was now visible across all of his Search Console properties. "Seems like Google is rolling out the new Generative AI feature report in GSC," Chauhan wrote. "I'm now seeing the report available across all of my properties. Could this be a broader rollout happening now." Independent checks across approximately 25 Search Console profiles confirmed the report's presence in each one.

Google has not yet issued a formal announcement declaring the rollout complete. The company's help documentation for the report still carries a note stating, "We're rolling out this report to a subset of website owners, allowing for thorough testing before rolling it further." However, the widespread availability observed across regions and property types suggests the gradual expansion has reached its final stage.

The report first launched on June 3, 2026, when Google introduced it alongside a new toggle allowing website owners to opt out of having their content appear in generative AI search features. In a blog post titled "New opportunities, control and insights for website owners," Mrinalini Loew, General Manager of Google Search Ecosystem, wrote that Google was "starting to roll out new insights for website owners in Search Console about the appearance of their pages in generative AI Search features." The initial release was limited to a subset of UK website owners, a decision Google attributed to engagement with the UK's Competition and Markets Authority (CMA).

By June 23, reports surfaced that Google had expanded access beyond the UK to site owners in India, Switzerland, and the United States. The expansion to apparent full availability followed over the subsequent seven weeks.

What the report shows

According to Google's official Search Console documentation, the generative AI performance report tracks impressions across two Google Search features: AI Overviews and AI Mode. Data from Search Labs experiments is excluded from the report, as those features remain in active development.

The report breaks down impression data across four dimensions:

  • Pages: Groups data by the canonical URL that appeared in a generative AI feature, after any redirects.
  • Countries: Shows the geographic origin of searches where a site's links appeared in AI features.
  • Devices: Breaks down impressions by desktop, tablet, or mobile.
  • Dates: Provides hourly, daily, weekly, and monthly granularity, with all timestamps in Pacific Time.

Google noted in its documentation that the chart aggregates data by property, meaning multiple results from the same site in a single AI-generated response count as one impression. Site owners can export both chart and table data.

What the report does not show

The report does not include click data or query-level data. When Google first announced the feature in June, a company spokesperson said Google was "continuing to work with website owners to understand what insights will be most helpful to inform their strategies, and we'll introduce additional metrics over time." The absence of click and query data remains a significant limitation for SEO teams trying to understand which searches trigger AI-generated responses that include their content.

Google also cautioned that some properties may not see the report if the site has not received enough impressions in generative AI features. Site owners who have used the new Search Console toggle to exclude their content from generative AI features will also not see impression data, as opted-out sites do not appear in AI Overviews or AI Mode.

Scale of AI search features

In the same June 3 blog post, Google disclosed that AI Overviews has surpassed 2.5 billion monthly active users and AI Mode has surpassed one billion monthly users. Those figures put the scale of the new report in perspective for publishers and brands trying to understand their visibility in Google's AI-powered search experiences.

Why this matters for SEO and AI visibility

The report fills a measurement gap that has frustrated SEO teams, even without click or query data. Impression trends by page, country, and device let teams identify which content Google's AI systems surface most often and where geographic gaps exist. For organizations investing in Generative Engine Optimization (GEO), this data provides a baseline for tracking whether content changes correlate with increased AI search presence.

What to watch next

Google has said it will "introduce additional metrics over time," which leaves the door open for click data or query-level reporting to eventually arrive. SEO teams should monitor the report's development for any expansion of available dimensions. The separate generative AI performance report for Google Discover may follow a similar rollout trajectory. Google has also indicated it expects to update the list of covered generative AI capabilities "over time as we develop Google Search," meaning new AI features could be added to the report's scope.
