Google Search Console Crawl Stats Report Missing Data for August 15-16
Google Search Console's crawl stats report is missing data for August 15 and 16, 2026. SEOs monitoring their crawl activity observed the gap when checking reports on August 21.
What happened
The crawl stats report in Google Search Console, which shows how Googlebot interacts with a website, has no data for the two-day period of August 15-16. The missing data was noticed on August 21 when users checked their reports.
Google's Search Status Dashboard does not list an incident for this data gap. The dashboard shows all services (Crawling, Indexing, Ranking, Serving) as available as of August 21.
Details
The crawl stats report provides information about Google's crawling activity on a site, including total crawl requests, response codes, and crawl intent. SEOs and site owners use this data to monitor how Googlebot accesses their content and identify potential crawling issues.
The missing dates create a gap in the historical crawl data that site owners rely on for monitoring and debugging. In previous instances of GSC data gaps, Google has sometimes restored the missing data, though no such commitment has been made for this incident.
Context
This is the second Google Search Console data issue reported in August 2026. Earlier in the month, multiple SEOs reported a sharp drop in Search Console performance data starting August 12. That issue affected the Performance report's impressions and clicks data, while the current issue affects the separate crawl stats report.
The crawl stats report is distinct from the Performance report. While the Performance report shows how a site appears in search results and what users click, the crawl stats report shows Googlebot's technical interaction with the site's pages.
What has not been confirmed
Google has not publicly acknowledged the missing crawl stats data. The Search Status Dashboard does not list this as an incident. It is not known whether:
- The data will be restored
- The gap affects all Search Console properties or only some
- There is any impact on actual crawling or indexing (the missing data is in the reporting layer, not necessarily in Google's crawling systems)
