Google AI Mode Adds Hotel Booking, Flight Price Tracking, and Points/Miles Rates for Travel

Google announced three new travel features in AI Mode: hotel booking via Google Pay, flight price tracking with email alerts, and points/miles rate viewing from loyalty partners.

Google AI Mode Adds Hotel Booking, Flight Price Tracking, and Points/Miles Rates for Travel

Google announced on August 27, 2026 that AI Mode in Search now supports three new travel capabilities: hotel booking directly within the conversational interface, flight price tracking with email alerts, and the ability to view flight and hotel costs in loyalty points or miles. The features were detailed in a blog post by James Byers, Group Product Manager for Search.

What was announced

Google is expanding AI Mode's travel functionality beyond search and comparison into direct booking and price monitoring. Users can now describe hotel preferences in a conversational prompt, receive a visual list of options with guest reviews, and complete a reservation through Google Pay without leaving AI Mode. Separately, users can ask AI Mode to track flight prices and receive email alerts when prices change for specified routes and dates. A third addition shows the cost of flights and hotels in points or miles from partner loyalty programs.

What changed

Before this update, AI Mode could compare flights and hotels and help build itineraries, but users had to leave the interface to complete bookings or set up price tracking on Google Flights. The new features bring price monitoring and hotel reservations into the AI Mode conversation itself. Flight price tracking in AI Mode uses data from more than 300 partner airlines and travel sites, the same pool that powers Google Flights.

Details and availability

Hotel booking in AI Mode has started rolling out in the United States in English. Google listed the following integrated booking partners: Booking.com, Choice Hotels International, Expedia, Hilton, Hotels.com, IHG Hotels & Resorts, Marriott International, Priceline, Trip.com, and Wyndham Hotels & Resorts. When a user selects a hotel, a "Continue on Google" option appears next to integrated partners. The hotel or booking platform acts as the merchant of record and handles customer service.

Flight price tracking is available in more than 180 countries and territories. Users can set up alerts by asking AI Mode to track specific flights. The feature sends email notifications when prices change for the specified destination and dates.

Points and miles rates are globally available. Initial launch partners include Alaska Airlines/Hawaiian Airlines, American Airlines, Choice Hotels International, Hilton, and Wyndham Hotels & Resorts. Google said it will add Accor, Flying Blue, Hyatt, LATAM Airlines, and Lufthatha Group in the coming weeks.

Context

AI Mode in Google Search has been expanding its transactional capabilities since its launch. In June 2026, Google added link carousels for developing topics to AI Mode, giving users multiple source options rather than a single synthesized answer. The travel features follow a broader pattern of AI search interfaces moving from information retrieval toward direct commerce and booking actions. Google Pay integration for the hotel booking feature connects to the company's existing payments infrastructure.

What has not been confirmed

Google did not specify a full rollout timetable for hotel booking beyond the initial U.S. English launch. The announcement does not describe how these features affect organic search visibility for travel sites, whether AI Mode hotel bookings will generate referral traffic data visible to partners, or how the feature interacts with existing Google Hotels integrations. It is also not clear whether flight booking (as opposed to price tracking) will be added to AI Mode in the future.
